Welcoming address by the Director General of the FRC KSC RAS

Dear friends!

We are pleased to welcome you to the Kola Science Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the only Federal Research Centre in Russia located beyond the Arctic Circle. Founded in 1930 by academician A. E. Fersman as the Khibiny mountain station of the USSR Academy of Sciences, the Kola Science Centre has since then always been an Outpost of Russian academic science in the Russian Arctic.

The new time sets new challenges for the country, for the government, for the Russian Academy of Sciences. Russia's prosperity is impossible without a strong science working to solve the problems set by the state, set by time itself. There are big challenges ahead – we have to strengthen and increase our scientific and technical potential, strengthen the old and create new growth points in the field of science and technology, renew the staff with young talented researchers.

We are open to cooperation with everyone and will work for the benefit of our country as our past obliges us to do in the light of glorious traditions of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the traditions of the Kola Science Centre. Moving forward to the new scientific achievements, interesting and important results, new inventions and technologies!
